Breaking Point - The Complexities of Exorbitant Healthcare & Insurance

Happy Holiday of Love,

As Valentine's Day approaches, many couples are planning to celebrate. This is a healthy sign that love is still alive. It's no secret that we can better love ourselves and others when we feel happy and healthy. So, I wanted to take this opportunity to share some love with all of you and commit to opening my heart as I continue my own healing journey. Please remember that we are all in this together; healing is a never-ending journey.

During the recent open enrollment, we had the opportunity to speak and have a conversation with many of you. It became apparent that the cost of healthcare had become unbearable and, often, insane, with co-pays, co-insurance, and maximum out-of-pocket expenses now double what they were in 2014 when the Affordable Care Act was introduced.

However, the most significant concern raised this year was regarding the non-documented immigration law in California. The primary complaint was about the opportunity given to immigrants to access zero-premium health insurance. While we acknowledge the importance of providing healthcare to immigrants, the prevailing sentiment was that resources and opportunities should be directed toward finding more affordable and effective coverage for U.S. citizens first.

What is the next step? How can we deal with the unrealistic healthcare costs and system? Here's my take on it: We can take control of our healthcare costs by learning to navigate healthcare prices and being proactive in managing them. For instance, we should take immediate action whenever we detect discrepancies or gaps in our healthcare.

In my years of experience delivering healthcare, I have witnessed a glaring lack of education and information among healthcare decision-makers. This knowledge gap has resulted in us paying exorbitant healthcare fees while being too afraid to access it. It's time we took charge and made informed decisions about the critical aspects of our lives. As part of my commitment to giving back to the health insurance industry, I'll be lobbying in Washington, DC, in a few weeks. This annual trip allows me to advocate on your behalf for cases that can help improve our healthcare system. If you have any claims, discrepancies, or outrageous bills that you would like me to share, please send them to me. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

I also want to share the "Bill of the Month" to highlight exorbitant and infuriating bills. If you've been wrongly charged and need to fight back, you can submit it to KFF. Each month, they select one bill to share with the community -

Food is Medicine

“Food is Medicine” summit, a bipartisan event in Washington, D.C. HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kansas), Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), and Reps. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) and Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) are scheduled to attend panel events. Listen up! This message is incredibly important. I've been sharing with you the incredible power of food to heal and maintain our health. But to unlock its potential truly, we need to look back at how our ancestors cared for their bodies and prevented illnesses. We've forgotten so many valuable lessons, and it's time to bring them back. It doesn't matter which side of the aisle you're on - we can work together to educate people on the power of food and find solutions to our health problems. Remember this: food is medicine!

Employers

It's essential to emphasize the significance of providing solutions for the seniors in our workforce. Highlighting the importance of learning more about Medicare and providing senior employees access to care can influence their longevity. We could approach the conversation with employers by acknowledging the strict rules and regulations governing discussions and further options with employees. Let's focus on sharing an insightful article while spotlighting the vital question: How can we better support our aging workforce?

LOVE

Receiving a heartfelt note from one of the carriers, ensuring our safety while traveling outside the country, has been a source of inspiration, especially during this challenging time for the state of Israel. The approval and support of Trawick, particularly for those traveling to Israel, has been both meaningful and reassuring, and it reinforces the deep connection I hold for this cherished land and the current ongoing crisis.

Safe and peaceful travel,
