Love must be in the air

Love must be in the air

“Love is a choice you make from moment to moment.” – Barbara De AngelisSo I always hope to choose to love everyone around me, as it is easier for me to feel love. It is a muscle that can heal so many hearts – L O V E

💕💕 Love and greetings to you all,The last few months felt different, and despite believing that change is the only constant vibration, it is at a very different speed and volatility. The news around us, with all these balloons/Un-identified flying objects, the war in Ukraine, the earthquake in Turkey, the denying of medical claims for contraception to the highest increase in our Medical monthly premium.

Further, the initial months of the new year brought plenty of significant changes in our health insurance industry. So we have seen a considerable shift for many of our policyholders and many people joining Covered CA for subsidy eligibility… But, it is the month of L O V E and a celebration of our opportunity to choose Love repeatedly. It is an excellent reminder that the choice is in our hands, and we can continue celebrating regardless of any situation. February is one of my favorite months of the year; not only so many of my closes friends are celebrating their birthdays, but it is a historic month for the black community and the celebration of diversity & inclusion,  President's Day Celebration, National Cancer Prevention, American Heart Month,  and of course the celebration of Valentine's day.

So by the end of the day, there are so many things we can pick and choose to celebrate. 💕💕

I relate to it as The Light,  the light that came from the heroic acts working to save the lives of family members in Turkey & Syria and total strangers that keep supporting these communities. Yes, the worst of nature was on display, but so was the best of humanity, Love, and compassion. This is what we can carry on with us and MUST feel in the air.

The path might be difficult, but the only way to succeed is to love the process. So many of our communities are designed to make the process fun as we strive to build the world for the future generation. Not only this month but always, please keep and feel the Love that we as a team feel towards each one of you –

Please remember that we are holding the light of health & Love among every access to care and healing,

In-Light, praying  & Love, enjoy your month ~

Covered CA

The

Special Enrollment

Period is here!

You can enroll in a Covered California health plan or change your current plan only during Open Enrollment unless you experience a Qualifying Life Event (QLE)—this is called a Special Enrollment Period (SEP).

New Additions and Changes to the QLE Menu:

Beginning February 1, 2023, new Qualifying Life Event selections are available and include the following:

~ Newly qualifies for health insurance coverage

Suppose you are in industries that are new to a company offering health insurance coverage, or you are currently working for a company and are newly eligible for coverage due to increased working hours. In that case, you may qualify for this SEP.

~ State of Emergency: for example, the winter storm has impacted us here in California. We were affected by a natural disaster that resulted in the Governor's State of Emergency proclamation and may qualify for this SEP through

March 5, 2023

.

*** Note: Special Enrollment does not apply to Medi-Cal policyholders. If you qualify for Medi-Cal, you can apply for Coverage anytime during the year and do not need a Qualifying Life Event to gain Coverage

Employers

End of COVID-19 National Emergency and Public Health Emergency: Impacts on Health Plans

Both the National Emergency and Public Health Emergency periods are set to end on

May 11, 2023.

We are giving you the heads up here: as on

May 11, 2023

, health plans will no longer be required to cover COVID-19

diagnostic tests (

including OTC tests)

and related services without cost sharing.

However, health plans will still be required to cover recommended preventive services, including COVID-19 immunizations, without cost sharing, but this coverage requirement will be limited to in-network providers.

Therefore, if the plan is fully insured, the carrier may stop covering COVID-19 tests and other services without cost-sharing. Self-funded plans must decide (in connection with stop-loss) what changes to make to the plan terms.

In addition, certain mid-year changes may be considered a reduction in benefits within 60 days of the change.

As a result of the end of these periods, employer plan sponsors should begin planning now for the end of the COVID-19 Outbreak Period and PHE and make any changes to plan terms or adjustments as necessary, especially as it relates to COBRA administration and future to extended timeframes.

IRS 1094/1095-C Forms

It is essential to submit your 1095 during tax season; Covered California and your Employer plan will send you the federal IRS Form 1095-A/B/C.

Kaiser Permanente policy changes

📢📢📢Here is some excellent news for those of you who are covered under Kaiser Permanente policies:Access to care at ANY Kaiser Permanent facility will be available for the following states where Kaiser is available:California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland, Oregon, Virginia, Washington state and D.CTraveling to states where Kaiser is NOT available will allow you to travel with peace of mind as you will now have even more ways to get care while you're away from home – on an emergency based:

  • 24/7 care by phone or online from a Kaiser Permanente clinician

  • In-person urgent or emergency care from providers from Cigna PPO Network in non-Kaiser Permanente states

The best part is that you won't pay anything upfront if it's with a Cigna PPO Network provider, you will just need to show your digital ID card or physical travel card at your visit, and you'll get a bill for your usual copay or coinsurance later.

National Cancer Prevention Month

We find it essential to share this month, especially during National Cancer Prevention Month – and remind everyone:

'You don't need to be a cancer patient to take preventative actions.'

What are we reading?

Dr. Jack Travis was the first doctor to use the word wellness. He said and shared, "the currency of wellness is connection."With our remote/hybrid working,  these words are no longer just exciting observations. It is, in fact, our new reality.During his residency program in preventive medicine at Johns Hopkins, one day in the clinic, Dr. Travis decided to try prescribing books. One of these books prescribed was Dr. Rubin's 'The Angry Book,' and according to Dr. Travis, this book was able to lower a young black woman's blood pressure 'The Angry Book'Dr. Rubin discusses how understanding and releasing anger can lead to greater health, happiness, and emotional wholeness in this book.
