A New Moon and a New Year

Today is the New Moon and tomorrow brings Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year. As this most unusual year turns towards fall, remember that this is an auspicious time to cast our intentions and craft our goals for the last months of 2020.

I know we are all trying to figure it out and, hopefully, we are trying to keep it positive. At the same time, though, we are hearing and experiencing so much loss around us. In the Hebrew tradition, we sit Shiva for 7 days to mourn the loss of a loved one's life. This tradition allows the family to come to terms with the loss, and for friends and the extended community to pay their respects.

We have had so much to mourn this year, not just from the pandemic, and yet we are missing the needed collective grieving process. This loss is felt on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels – so much so that the health industry is now focusing on the PTSD we are collectively suffering. When we feel the loss of trust, light and equanimity, it becomes harder to recognize the blessings around us.

So, what should I do? We have to join our hearts, we have to make sure we are taking care of each other and that we see each other in the clear light of truth.

During this holiday season, whatever your religion, I ask you to recognize the potential of this month and this moment. Use this time to pray for the clear values that we need to implement on this journey, and acknowledge and be willing to work together for a meaningful, valuable change.

The bottom line message is that love will win. We will have a bright year full of light and many blessings for hope, change and the most importantly, real health. We will create together a space that allows us each to heal within. ❤

Positive communication and support for our neighbors and loved ones is a key for our future healthcare. In this newsletter we shine a spotlight on some of our favorite neighbors, and give some guidelines for starting a meditation practice. As always, please reach out with any questions.

Our wish for the New Year is to get to hug you in person! Blessings for complete and total health, peace in our hearts, home and our communities, and meaningful connections with one another.

And make sure to get ready to vote! 😊

Spotlight on Valley Village

Team A+ enjoying some pre-pandemic fun!

In honor of 'Good Neighbor Day' coming up on September 28, we'd love to share some of our favorite spots around the Valley Village and Studio City. These independent and locally owned spots have been great to us for years, and we'd love you to check them out for taking out or delivery.

"Great for a special occasion or just because! Their options are varied, and equally yummy." - Dyanne Weiss

"Tony’s is amazing because their prices are decent, their food is absolutely wonderful and wonderful quality. They are free delivery, and friendly, good energy!" - Omar Oyanguren

Naama's top restaurant picks in the area:

The Village - Great location for a socially distanced happy hour

La Loggia - A long-time favorite for Italian, their to-go set menus are wonderful for a special treat at home

Ceremony Bar - Located next door to La Loggia, Ceremony has fabulous Mexican cuisine

Flavor of India - My favorite spot for delicious and authentic Indian food

- this classic sushi restaurant has anchored Ventura Blvd since 1979! Their to-go menu has been a lifeline during quarantine.

Life Insurance Awareness

September is Life Insurance Awareness Month, especially pressing this year when the fragility of life is at the forefront. Only 46% of Americans have life insurance, and close to 1/3 of families would face financial challenges if the primary earner were to pass away, according to research from LIMRA. Today's life insurance policies have many options, including living benefits, where the policy can work more like disability insurance, or wellness perks that can lower premiums when you make healthy life changes.

If we've learned anything this year, it's that our lives are precious. We are happy to provide you with a free life insurance quote, simply visit our website to request. We also work with a financial planner who can assist with more complex cases and provide mindful planning services, as well.
