Welcome spring blossoming,

Madness and creativity are in the air - the season of renewal!

Spring is when we come up or emerge into rapid cleansing and clear out some very needed stagnant winter energy as we strengthen and refresh our bodies, minds, and spirits in health!

As we collectively move into another phase of our relationship with the Covid pandemic, this is a unique opportunity to think about building strength and revitalizing our immune system.

It is now in our ability to resist any possible infection or toxin. Unfortunately, some diseases, like the flu and the common cold, have to be fought many times because so many different viruses or strains of the same type of virus can cause these illnesses.

Catching a cold or flu from one virus does not give you immunity against the others. But it is now the best time to cleanse all levels of well-being – Body – Mind – Spirit.

As per the latest full moon and the spring equinox in the Northern Hemisphere, we can shed what is no longer serving us. Sweet reminder:

 - Food is medicine: Everything we eat impacts our health, so be mindful about incorporating lots of natural fruits and vegetables, limiting sugar, especially added sugar, and choosing healthy fats and oils like olive, grapeseed, and avocado oil. Like quinoa pasta for traditional pasta, making simple food swaps can help pack more nutrition in every bite.

-Supplements for overall health: I love turmeric for its anti-inflammatory properties. Vitamin D is proving to be important in helping people strengthen their immune system and prevent severe covid. Combining Vitamin D with Vitamin K2 is an especially potent combination for supplementation.

Our thoughts become our reality: One of my teachers, Deepak Chopra, says "Your mind and body today are the results of your habits yesterday. Your mind and body tomorrow are the results of your habits today. So regularly clearing the mind's clutter, whether, through meditation, time in nature, yoga, or other exercises, mindfulness practice helps you clarify and create the reality you wish to renew within your new spring body. This month, I reflect on some of my journey into the future of better access to care and a healthier cost of healing.

On my recent trip to Washington, DC, NAHUCapCon2022, I had the honor to guide and lead the opening of both mornings with meditation.

On February 28th, I led meditation right after the Keynote speaker, Amy Walter, while on March 1st, the session was before Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) took the stage.

Opening events with meditation, especially in a sensitive unique hybrid environment and auspicious time, creates cohesion and a positive connection among attendees, something we need so much these days. We were also lobbying for:

  • Banning surprise billing

  • Reducing prescription drug costs

  • Increasing transparency with hospitals and providers.

Every step we take towards creating more equity and access to our healthcare system and genuinely providing options for all communities, no matter their age, health conditions, and wealth, is essential.

It was super impressive how many senators and members of Congress came to see us. On Monday, February 28th, mask were removed in D.C., and Biden addressed the nation in a state of a union speech. 20+ of them came to see us; they were super happy to meet so many of us IRL (In Real Life). But I have to admit that I was impressed with how the conversation folded:

  1. Ukraine  -Each had their personal story and concern about the current unfortunate war. May peace prevail soon in the region.

  2. Mental Health – which is now an essential conversation in D.C.

  3. Telemedicine expansion and technology sharing.

You don’t have to get sick in order to start taking care of your health

Good health is a great blessing, but many take it for granted. Rather than focusing on our health and wellness regularly, we tend to neglect our health until we fall sick.

However, this shouldn't be the case. Focusing on our health and a few lifestyle changes can lead us to have a healthy body, improving our physical well-being and mental and emotional health. It's important to note that we don't have to get sick to start taking care of our health.

In this section, every month, we will be looking at one particular lifestyle change you can make in order to improve your health.

This month our focus is on 'Green Juice'

Green Juice is made up of green vegetables. There are various them out there, but most people use kale, cucumbers, celery, lemon, ginger, and green apples to make this juice. Drinking green juice can have many benefits and is a great way to take good care of your health.

The antioxidants in the green juice significantly impact our skin and make our skin look fresh and hydrated. It also serves as an anti-inflammatory, ensuring that our body is not overly inflamed, which could have adverse effects.

Green juice is also a great way to improve the health of your gut which is essential as any gut problems can lead to more significant issues.

A note: it took me a while to get used to the strong taste of the juice. It is an acquired taste.
